Surrealistic Exquisite Corpse
Students learned about the Surrealists and their playful use of random chance in their artwork. Then, we split into groups of four to play the Surrealist game of "exquisite corpse," a drawing game in which each person draws a different part of the figure without looking at what came before, resulting in a really silly creature! After the paper got passed around the table, the person who first drew the head unrolled the paper and colored in the resulting zany figure. Once it was colored in, they named it and filled out a worksheet describing its favorite foods, where it lived, and so on.
