Gyotaku Fish Print Habitats
In this project, 1st and 2nd graders learn about the Japanese tradition of gyotaku, relief prints made from real fish. They also learn about the different parts of a fish and their habitats (addressing 1st and 2nd grade science standards). Then, students create original prints from cast rubber fish and collage them into an underwater scene created with oil pastels, watercolor, and tissue paper collage.
